Agency – The death toll from the devastating storm “Helen” in the southeastern United States reached 118 on Monday.

 

With hundreds still missing in the southeastern US state and the death toll rising, President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that he would travel to storm-ravaged North Carolina to oversee rescue efforts .

At least 118 people have died in North Carolina, 25 in South Carolina, 25 in Georgia , 14 in Florida, 4 in Tennessee and 1 in Virginia due to the storm and the floods caused by it , according to local authorities’ data collected by AFP.

 

Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) personnel continue to search and rescue people in the affected states. They are working to restore water and electricity supply in the affected areas , remove trees felled by the storm, provide essential materials and register the names of people who need help.

Officials have warned that the death toll will increase and informed that 600 people are still missing.
